2nd ANNUAL SPRING CRUISE: May 20, 2006

The Club's 2nd Spring Cruise got off to a great start with perfect temperatures. The wind proved to be somewhat of a challenge as the line of Volkswagens cruised east on Highway 10 from Moorhead, MN (our morning meeting place). After reaching Detroit Lakes, MN the group drove through Downtown, past the lake before stopping at the home of Fred and Chris Garnes.
Fred and Chris welcomed us into their large new shop space that houses their VWs and Fred's sign business. We had a pot-luck style barbeque with meat on the grill. After lunch, the Garnes's took the group on a drive around the lake to Dean Corcoran's home where we viewed his nice collection of Volkswagens. Returning to Fred's shop, we were treated to ice-cream while we being entertained by the music of Bill Lempe.
Thanks to everyone for making the cruise such a great experience. Fred and Chris were superb hosts, Bill's music was great and it was fun meeting so many new people and seeing everyone's Volkswagens drive down the highway. Can't wait 'til next year!
